This is also why much of the software produced by educational publishers tends to deliver structured resources, often divided into chunks that make up individual lessons. These will often also come with curriculum links and teachers notes to make things as easy as possible for the teachers who are under pressure to show how they are using digital technology for teaching when the Ofsted inspectors visit.

Most of these resources are linked in some way to printed matter (a CD-ROM accompanying a text book) with the potential of the digital resources adding interactivity and more depth to resource – added value.

There are also now a growing number of resources available online through subscription sites and so on, which can remove the complications of installations (a great benefit for those schools that still struggle with the technology) and which can easily be updated.

This is in general the situation in schools in the UK. There are of course exceptions but overall there is a feeling that uptake of digital technology in schools is growing steadily and that over the years this uptake will slowly and steadily increase.

At Vivid we believe that whilst the former is true the latter is not. We believe that there will soon be a significant acceleration of demand for interactive digital resources for schools across multiple digital platforms and that that acceleration is imminent.
